Project overview

  • Location: Berlin-Friedrichshain

  • Building type: Bilingual school

  • PV output: 45 kWp

  • Modules: 281 bifacial modules (SOLYCO SOLon)

  • Mounting system: Vertical east-west mounting

  • Special feature: Preservation of the existing green roof without intervention

The SOLYCO SOLon vertical green roof solar system was installed on the roof of a bilingual school in Berlin-Friedrichshain. The aim was to generate solar power without impacting the existing green roof. It was a key criterion for the school community.

The decision to install the photovoltaic system was made jointly with parents, the school authority, and planners. Traditional elevated PV systems were ruled out due to shading and the impact on the roof's greenery.

SOLon enabled uniform irrigation, undisturbed plant growth, and at the same time economical power generation.

Green roof preservation

"With the SOLYCO SOLon, the building serves as a model for public buildings and educational institutions in urban areas."

  • Partner: Ökotronik Solar GmbH

  • Installation: Winter installation at low temperatures

Kassel | Daycare center with 24.64 kWp vertical green roof solar system

A 24.64 kWp SOLon green roof photovoltaic system was installed on the green roof of a daycare center in Kassel.

Despite the wintry conditions, the project was implemented efficiently. The system's simple and quick assembly helped in this regard.

The daycare center now benefits from its own solar power, while the green roof fully retains its ecological function. Especially for social institutions, the combination of sustainability, safety, and cost-effectiveness is crucial.

lightweight

"The low system weight and the installation without roof penetration make SOLon particularly suitable for sensitive buildings such as daycare centers."

Leonberg 100 kWp.webp

Project overview

  • Location: Leonberg

  • Building type: Commercial / DIY store

  • PV output: 100 kWp

  • Module: 625 SOLon Module

  • Partner: Raible Solar GmbH

  • Planning: SOLYCO project team

Leonberg | Hardware store with 100 kWp vertical solar system

A 100 kWp green roof photovoltaic system was implemented for a hardware store in Leonberg using the SOLon system.

The project impressively demonstrates that even large commercial roofs with green roof requirements can be used economically for solar energy.

The vertical module mounting enables even load distribution, reduces wind attack surfaces and delivers a characteristic east-west yield curve and is optimized for self-consumption of electricity during the day of trading operations.

Economical photovoltaics on large green roofs

"With SOLon, even large green roof areas can be used economically for photovoltaics. SOLYCO provided the planning, structural analysis, and the installer a scalable process."
